Kremlin says Russia considers various responses to oil price cap

MOSCOW, Dec 7 (PRIME) -- The Russian authorities are discussing various options to respond to the introduction of an oil price cap by the E.U. and G7 countries, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told PRIME on Wednesday.

“Various options are being considered. Once the decision is made, it will be made public,” he said.

Business daily Vedomosti reported earlier in the day that the Russian authorities are developing three possible responses: a complete ban on oil sales to the countries that supported the restriction, including through intermediary countries, a ban on exports under contracts that include the price cap, and the introduction of the maximum discount of Russia’s Urals oil to Brent oil.
